He was working as an attender in the Village Panchayat office and Mrs. Bandi Suryakala used to sell sarees from her house to supplement the meagre earnings. Things were normal as the nominal monthly income was sufficient to ensure education of their two sons studying in Class X and VII.

Stunned by the sudden turn of tragic events, all that Mrs. Bandi Suryakala could do was to seek the help of her fellow SHG members to pass on the information about the death of her husband to the Call Centre in Anantapur.

The Call Centre staff promptly informed the local Bima Mithra and others about the death. As her husband was covered under the AABY scheme, he was eligible for the Rs 5000 instant relief towards funeral expenses. The Bima Mithra visited the village, interacted with the family members, the local Animator, VO members and handed over the relief amount.

After due procedures were completed, she could get a claim amount of Rs. 25,000 after Rs 5000 instant relief was deducted. Still to come to terms with the death of her husband, Mrs. Bandi Suryakala invested some money in her saree business to expand it. She is supplementing her income by depositing the money in the Bank.
