India Jeevitha Bima Patham

In the State of Andhra Pradesh, all the Micro insurance scheme initiated by SERP for the poor and poorest of the poor and Self Help Group members are christened as ‘Indira Jeevitha Bima Pathakam’. In fact, a few Districts started implementation of micro insurance activities prior to SERP took the lead. There were lots of anomalies in the implementation right from the enrollment, rate of premium, claim settlement process etc. SERP, with a view to universalize the micro-insurance actives with uniform standards and protocols, have undertaken a study in the Districts. In the year 2008, after a careful discussion with the insurance companies and examination of the schemes being initiated by the State as well as the Central Government, the Government of Andhra Pradesh decided to implement the following schemes under the umbrella of Indira Jeevitha Bima Pathakam.
